Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence Jennifer Lawrence shot to instant acclaim and Hollywood prominence once again this year with her powerful portrayal of Bradley Cooper’s love interest in the heart warming comedy-drama film, “Silver Linings Playbook”. Of course, the film benefited enormously from a stellar ensemble cast which not included Cooper and Lawrence, but also featured the legendary presence of film heavyweight Robert De Niro. Still, in the end, it was indisputably Jennifer Lawrence who delivered the film’s signature performance, a convincing blend of brash youth and cynical idealism. David O. Russell’s direction may have defined the film, but Lawrence’s performance delivered it.

Alongside Bradley Cooper (in the role of the film’s male focal point, Pat Peoples), Jennifer Lawrence’s performance as Tiffany was the central focus of “Silver Linings Playbook”. Her delivery of her lines, as well as the naturalistic ease and vigor with which she effortlessly portrayed her character, were soon the “talk of the town” among perceptive critics and knowledgeable movie buffs. It is therefore no surprise to learn that Jennifer Lawrence has garnered a nod for Best Actress at the 85th annual Academy Awards, which are scheduled to take place on nationwide television from Hollywood, California on February 24, 2013. The nod was timely and well deserved.

It may, perhaps, come as something of a rude surprise that Robert De Niro (“Mean Streets”, “Meet The Fockers”, “Casino”, “Goodfellas”, “Raging Bull”) did not receive an Oscar nod for his own performance in “Silver Linings Playbook”. After all, his turn as a supporting character in the film garnered instant recognition and monetary cachet among the bigwigs of the motion picture industry. In the end, though, Jennifer Lawrence came through to fill the Oscar nomination void with flying colors, ensuring that the film will do excellent business when released in Blu-Ray and DVD mode. Lawrence will therefore continue as a proven money maker for some years to come.
